Do you mean 2x - [ 4(x^2) + x ]^(1/2) ?

2x - [4(x^2) + x ]^(1/2)
={2x -[ 4(x^2) + x ]^(1/2)} { 2x + [4(x^2) + x ]^(1/2)} /{2x + [4(x^2) + x ]^(1/2)}
= [4x^2 - (4x^2 + x)] /{2x + [4(x^2) + x ]^(1/2)}
= -x /{2x + [4(x^2) + x ]^(1/2)}
=-1/{2 + [4 + 1/x]^(1/2)

Take x -> infinity, we get the limi = -1/(2 + 4) = -1/6
