$3200 is divided among John,Tom and Don.If Tom receiver three times as much as John,while Don receivs four times as much as John,how much does John receive?

Let $x be the money John receivesAccording to the question...
Tom receiver three times as much as John
==> Tom receives $3x
Don receivs four times as much as John
==> Don receives $4x
Therefore
$x + $3x + $4x = $3200
$8x = $3200
$x = $400
Thus, John receives $400

thus, Tom receives 3y
and, Don receives 4y
y + 3y + 4y = 3200
8y=3200
y = 400
therefore John receives $ 400
