Mechanism of Action
Phenazone is an NSAID (non-steroidal anti-inflammatory drug) and is used as an analgesic.
Indication & Dosage

Oral
PAIN RELIEF
Adult: 1-4 g/day in 4-6 divided doses.
Otic/Aural
OTITIS MEDIA, OTHER INFLAMMATORY CONDITIONS OF THE EAR, SOFTENING AND REMOVAL OF EAR WAX
Adult: 4-6 drops (0.5%) tid-qid.

Contraindications
Allergy to pyrazolones, G6PD deficiency, porphyria.
Precautions
Hepatic insufficiency.
Adverse Drug Reactions
Skin eruptions, hypersensitivity reactions, nephrotoxicity. Nausea, drowsiness, somnolence, convulsive crisis, coma, agranulocytosis, haemolytic anaemia, leucopaenia.
Interactions
Affects metabolism of some drugs and its metabolism is affected by drugs that increase/reduce the activity of liver enzyme.
