Maslow Theory is a content theory. It suggests that human beings are motivated by different needs - physiological, safety, belongingness, esteem and self-actualisation - at different times. Herzberg Two-factor Theory is another content theory. It discusses what motivate the individual, what can cause satisfaction and dissatisfaction.
The Expectancy Theory is a process theory. It describes how human beings are motivated and links their effort to good performance. Goal-setting Theory is another process theory. It argues that an individual is motivated by a high but attainable goal, and specific goal rather than general goal.
