百德新街~History

百德新街 是位於香港島北部的一條人流車流頗多的街道，它在香港銅鑼灣商業購物區。北部起自維園道，中途經京士頓街、記利佐治街，南至怡和街止。



過去

在1975年，麥當勞香港第一家分店在百德新街恆隆中心開業。

早期百德新街南段可供車輛行駛，1990年代曾成為巴士專線，2001年起封閉成為行人專區。中間一段百德新街原為雙程行車，近年則改為單程及增設的士站。



未來

政府計劃在銅鑼灣軒尼詩道興建地下購物街，用以改善人車爭路的現象。地下購物街位置大約在崇光百貨與興利中心之間，並連接百德新街、波斯富街及銅鑼灣地鐵站東西面大堂。

The area was actually a godown for Dairy Farm & Jardines & Matheson. The buildings were used for storage. There was a canal that was used for transport ,it was next to Victoria Park, on the western front. Gradually the area was developed & residential blocks were built. I lived there for over 10 years & observed the different stages of developments
