Use Algebraic expressions to solve this problem.
The number of hours John spends on studying is normally three times that of Simon. This week , each of them spends 6 hours more on studying. As a result , John spends 12 hours more than Simon. How many hours does


1) John normally spend on studying in a week?


2 )Simon normally spend on studying in a week?

let Simon spends x hours then John spends 3xhours

3x+6-(x+6)=12
2x=12
x=6
Simon spends 6 hours
John spends 3x6=18 hours

let John spends 3xhours and Simon spends x hours.

3x+6-(x+6)=12
x=6

1)John= 3X+6 =24 hrs
2)Simon= x+6=12 hrs
