let Simon spends x hours then John spends 3xhours3x+6-(x+6)=12
2x=12
x=6
Simon spends 6 hours
John spends 3x6=18 hours

3x+6-(x+6)=12

1)John= 3X+6 =24 hrs
2)Simon= x+6=12 hrs
