Problem recognition is the first stage of the decision process to explain consumer’s behaviour. This stage occurs when consumer identifies a needs or desires for a products or services. Moreover, Blythe (1997.p.119) illustrated the two motivation reasons for divergence and disparity between the desired state and the actual state. When actual state changes, the desired state changes.
更新1:

Rarely, the actual and desired states are to be the same in practice. However, Fill (2006. p.150) justified that problem recognition signifies “a perceived difference between an individual’s ideal state and reality”.

Problem recognition is the first stage of the decision making process in understanding consumer behaviour. This stage occurs when consumer identifies a need or desire for a product or service. Blythe (1997, P.229) illustrated the two motivation reasons for divergence and disparity between the desired state and the actual state. When actual state changes, the desired state changes. The actual and desired states are rarely the same in practice.
