You have to set the CD-ROM be the first hardware to startup when the computer swith on. You can set it at BIOS.
method: when the computer startup, press DELETE until into BIOS set table.
First, you should have the XP install CD, very version are ok.(sp1 sp2 home edditon).
Second, you restart the computer, and then, when it show the Post Meun or the brand, press F8 for many times.
Third, it should be enter to the install Meun, the background is blue, and fllowe the injunction to install, but remember to format the system disk into NTFS, it is better to suppot the XP or 2000. It may spends 30 to 40 minutes. The course of it is like Vista. You should understand.
That the method of install XP.

Alternatively, you can use xp mode in Vista to run those s/w or applications.

Sorry... you need to go out and buy a new Windows XP full version O/S, and install it, but the point is, even you can install, but may be you cannot find out the right driver for your notebook. And also, even you can find most like compatiable driver, but it may not stable. I think you should TRY to contact your notebook brand name support to find any solution.

Only Vista Premium OEM version can downgrade to XP, but the downgrad only come with the brand name company (such as dell, IBM, etc), you cannot buy this from outside. And also, some notebook have BLOCK and cannot install another O/S.
