the answer is CFor X,
s = 80m,u = 0ms-1,a = 10ms-2
s=ut+ 0.5at2
80 = 0+0.5(10)t2
80 = 5t2
t2 = 16
t = 4s
∵Y is released 1 s after X,
∴the time of release of Y is 3s
For Y,u=0,a=10,t=3
s=ut+ 0.5at2
s=0+(0.5)(10)(32)
s= (5)(9)
s=45m
∴the maximum vertical separation between X and Y in the air
= 80﹣45
=35m
