Let's state two examples:Co2(simple molecular), Quantz(giant covalent structures.
Even though both of them are involved covalent bond, the covalent bond in the co2 would not exist between the molecules, only exists in each of the CO2 molecule. The bond between the CO2 molecules is Van Deer Waal's forces. However, te bond between the carbon molecules in quantz is covalent bond, which is much stronger then Van Deer Waal's force.
So, as there are large difference in the bond between the molecules are difference, hence their boiling point is difference, too. Since Van Der Waal's force is very weak, the boiling points of CO2 (simple molecular) is lower than quantz(giant covalent structures).
Hope it is helpful.
