Osmosis will stop after sometime (between distillated water)

There is osmosis effect between pure water and maltose solution
It is seperated by a layer of selectively permeable layer ,which only water can pass thought
since only water can be pass
the pure water is pure water, its water potential won't drop
Hence, the flow of water should be from pure water to maltose solution
But why it will stop under the condition of the same water potential

osmosis is the NET MOVEMENT of water molecules of 2 medium between a selectively permeable membrane, therefore, osmosis won't STOP, it's just that water molecules movement between 2 medium is the same.

e.g. if 2 water molecules from pure water to maltose solution, there'll also be 2 water molecules from the sugar solution to pure water at same water potential. so net movement =0, water potential doesn't change doesn't mean osmosis isn't occuring
