HSBC credit interest is for the Savings Account
as a integrated account (such as SmartSavings, PowerVantage & Premier), their saving rate is calculated in compound interest and giving interest monthly .... and if that's the Passbook savings, they will pay out the interest in simple interest in every half year.... lemme give you an example, but this is a dramatic example, not an accurate figure thou...
If compound interest, i.e. this month you have 10,000 and you've earned 100 interest and you have no any movement, then the next month, they will use 10100 to calculate for the next month's interest, and the principle will be 10100 to use for calcuation and keep rolling over like that... so the next month that will be 10100+(102 for example)
and if simple interest, if this month your principle is 10,000 and if you can earn 100, then they will keep the 100 in record, and for the next month, they will still use 10000 as your next month's principle to calculate your next month's interest, in this instance, your next month's interest will also be 100 (since the principle is no change)
so, the integrated account can earn more interest than a passbook savings account
