if you are living in overseas, remember if the address you are going to use is a US or Canada address, the securities transactions are not allow due to the registriction.
After opening the account at the online banking, then there will be a opening kit - i.e. to introduction pack on the services which SmartSavings is providing and also the PINs (Phone & ATM) and the Card will be arranged to you for your collection.
If you talk about the introduction pack, the packet itself is not really as serious, but I think you better get your card and PINs.... usually after 1 week from the date you open the account online, you can go to your selected branch to collect the stuff. If you not going to collect within a month, they will usually redirect all the stuff to the centralization center and won't leave them at the branch, so, in case you need to collect them after 2 months, b4 you go for collection, call them up to check see whether they need to rearrange/prepare again for you or you those are still sitting at the branch for your collection.
They won't call you but they will send you a letter, but even you don't have the letter, just bring along your ID card after 1 week from the date open and ask for your kit collection is also fine.
You can request them to send the kit to overseas branch for your collection but that might take around 11 working days and there might be charges imply
