I've been an intl frshman at uni for a month, I don't have any friends, and am lonely. How do I make friends?

I've been at school for a month and a half, and I've tried reaching out to people, but nobody seems to be reaching out to me. Everyone here seems to already have their own friends, and I don't want to be a third wheel. My roommate and I get along well, but she seems to want to keep her friends separate from me. I don't like to invite myself along when they go out because they don't ask me. I've tried going to school activities, but at the same time I don't want to go because I don't have anyone to go with. It hurts knowing that after almost 2 months at school, I still don't have even one friend. Right now, I can't think of one person in my school that I could say thinks about me at least once a week. I'm getting really depressed because I'm so lonely, and I miss home terribly. Please help!
