why NaOH and water of approximately same amount have to added to powdered aspirin tablet?
what does it meant by hydrolysis?
can alkaline be used to do hydrolysis? can you give me a simple example?
can you explain the role of NaOH and water in the reaction to me?
i have read from my textbook that NaOH involved in the hydrolysis as a reactant, then why water is also added ( is that essential to add) ?
is the process of reacting aspirin with NaOH a neutralization reaction?

why NaOH and water of approximately same amount have to added to powdered aspirin tablet? This applies to your experiment only. If the conc of NaOH is OK, no need to add water. Try to think about the Conc of NaOH yourself!!

what does it meant by hydrolysis? Clevage of covalent bond by water in this case.

can alkaline be used to do hydrolysis? of course!!

exp: alkaline hydrolysis of oil to give carboxylate and glycerol.

NaOH hydrolysis is irreverisble and also the speed is faster than pure water only. NaOH need water as medium.

why water is also added ( is that essential to add) ? Answered in one already!!

is the process of reacting aspirin with NaOH a neutralization reaction? you are clever
