Golden retrievers are smart. Yours is still a baby, it takes time and perseveration to train your dog. Puppies have a strong urge to eliminate after sleeping, playing, feeding and drinking. This elimination usually occurs within 30 minutes of each activity. You have to take him to that particular area (Don't set it too big!) for releasing himself (I know it is difficult if you live alone.). When your puppy gets all his shot, it's time to take him for a daily walk. The walk is not just for releasing himself, but also for socializing and burning his enormous energy (Yes, they are quite hyper).

*Persistency in training is everything.

大部份的金毛尋回犬在小時候都會異常頑皮，除了喜歡用小牙幫你的鞋子打洞外，還會好像患上過度活躍症般、每天吵過不停。如果你一開始就寵慣牠，到牠漸漸長大後便會變得不受控制。所以，從第一天帶牠回家開始，你就要有貫徹始終的決心去教養牠，訓練牠懂得甚麼是「不行」，甚麼是「行」。只要主人有足夠的愛心和耐性，頑劣的小金毛最終也會變成最得人愛的大金毛。
