Let Xcm be the height of Kathy

Jason' height=
X / (1-18%)
=100x/82

Timpthy's height=
X x (1+20%)
=120x/100

Jason is taller.

Let K be the total number of the students.

7K/10 x (1-10%)
=56K/100

3K/10 x (1+40%)
=42K/100

98%K students left.
So, the % change in the total number of students is 2%.
