“We are always being penalized as if we speak Chinese during the English lesson in school, but what is the reason for doing this?” This question is always being asked by students, and they always found hard to understand why they have to obey this rule. Before we answer this question, we have to think about what would be the purpose of having an English class. The purpose that we needed to have an English class is providing an environment to learn and use English in the ways of reading, writing and speaking. The best way to learn a language is practicing. We need to lean it and then use it in our daily life, otherwise our English would not be improved. In our country, it is very rare to use English to express ourselves so that the English class become our main place that for us to practice. If we speak Chinese in English class then we missed the chance to speak in the English class and our English can be never improve. Hence, it becomes meaningless to having an English class in school.

Why we can't speak Cantonse in english lesson, of course, in english lesson, we can't speak Cantonse because if you speak Cantonse you can't study more english.But if you speak english in english lesson, you will like it and you can study more.
And english is a international langage, it is good if you know more and good at speaking english because you can talk to some foreigner, Japanese or others and make some other countries friends.
If you teacher is a foreigner or other countries, you must talk to him or her use english langage.
So english is a very good langage in the world.
