Virus in computer, Help!!!

I have no idea whether or not Virus is in my PC, which have been installed Windows XP. It's been working for 2 years, but all the sudden, what I have now on my computer is only the desktop pic, and no menu bar, and no time, and the arrow. I have tried to re-install OS, but failed. Please, Help me to bring it back to normal.
