i think it is affecting hongkong too. i remember when i was still very young, abt 10 yrs ago, the winter was much colder than now, and it was longer than now as well~~! especially in jan-feb, when chinese new year is near, this suppose to be the coldest days, but look at this yr chinese new yr! it was like 17-22 degrees (as i remember...~). so i believe that global warming is really affecting us.
for improvement, i agree with your ideas that reducing the use of plastics, but also fire control is very important too. Bush fire actually occurs almost every year in HK, bush fire meaning decrease in trees number, if we don't have sufficient trees, how can HK can a balance of green house gas?~~
