is there any excel function that can delete unwanted words in cells? thanks

Replace function can satisfy your need. For example,

abcde in A1
abcef in B1
abecf in C1

Now you want to take out the word "c", go to Edit -> Replace, type c in "find what" and empty in "replace with". Then press replace all. Then all c in the words will be delete.

use the FIND and REPLACE function, and choose the REPLACE ALL option.

Click on the cell and you'll see the content at the top.
Just select the part that you want to delete by dragging and press bksp/delete.
