Use the self timer and a tripod or other steady surface to hold your camera.

THERE_IS_NO_TIMER_ICON_ON_THE A630, so you have to use the menu system.

Press "FUNC" to get the menu display.
Toggle down to the third icon, which is a rectangle, for the "Drive Mode."
Toggle to the right until you reach the delay that you want to use.
You can choose 10 seconds, 2 seconds, or Custom delay.
Press the "FUNC" button again to confirm your desired delay.
When the delay that you want is displayed, set up your picture, push the shutter button and then the red-eye reduction lamp will blink once per second until the picture is taken.
You cancel the self-timer by going through the same series of actions, but choose the single-frame (rectangle) all the way to the left on the menu bar.

Do you mean Self-timer? or Shutter lag? Self-timer is 2 ,10 sec or custom and is found in your cameas menu or even in some cases on the camera itself. I do not have a manual for the camera so setting up the self-timer will be up to you. Shutter lag is just a fact of life in compact digital cameras and drives people crazy who love to shoot there children and pets. Only DSLR's address this problem

I have a PowerShot A560. Is yours better than mine? I haven't learned how to use it, but just checked the manual and it said to set it to self-timer.

* ISO speed (Auto, High ISO Auto, 80, 100, 200, 400, 800) - see below
* White balance (Auto, daylight, cloudy, tungsten, fluorescent, fluorescent H, underwater, custom) - see below
* Drive (Single-shot, continuous, self-timer [2 or 10 sec, custom] - see below
* My Colors (Off, vivid, neutral, sepia, black & white, positive film, lighter skin tone, darker skin tone, vivid blue, vivid green, vivid red, custom color) - see below
* Flash exposure compensation (-2EV to +2EV in 1/3EV increments) - in manual mode you can adjust the flash strength in three steps (1/3, 2/3, full)
* Metering (Evaluative, center-weighted, spot)
* Compression (see chart later in review)
* Resolution (see chart later in review)

As with most of Canon's 2006 cameras, there ar
