Simple Present (go/goes)
-used to describe things that are always true, habits.
e.g. The moon is round in shape.

Present Continuous (is/am/are going)
-used to describe an action that happens continuously now
-Usually used with ‘now’, ‘at the moment’ and ‘at this time being’.
e.g. I am having a meeting at the moment.

Present Perfect(has/have gone)
-used to describe an action that has just happened.
-Usually used with ‘already’, ‘yet’, ‘still’, ‘since’, ‘for’, ‘before’ and ‘after’.
-Usually used to describe an action that happens prior to another action.
e.g. I haven’t seen her for ages.
e.g. I feel sick after I have seen you.

Persent Perfect Continuous
-Used to describe an action that happened before, is happening now and will likely be happening in the future.
e.g. I have been waiting for you in the cinema since 7 this morning.

Simple Past(went)
-used to describe an action happened in the past.
-Usually used with ‘ago’, ‘yesterday’, ‘last Monday’, ‘previously’, ‘once’, ‘in the old days’ and ‘Once upon a time’.
e.g. My Grandma was a nurse once.

Past Continuous (was/were going)
- used to describe an action that happened at a moment in the past.

Past Perfect (had gone)
- used to describe an action that had just happened in the past.
- Usually used to describe an action that happens prior to another action.
- Usually used with ‘already’, ‘yet’, ‘still’, ‘since’, ‘for’, ‘before’ and ‘after’.
e.g. They hadn’t woken up yet before I came back yesterday.

Past Perfect Continuous
- Used to describe an action that happened, was happening and would likely be happening in the past.
e.g. Yesterday at ten, I had been waiting for you for 3 hours since seven that morning.

Simple Future (will/shall go)
- used to describe an action that will happen in the future.
- Usually used with ‘later’, ‘tomorrow, ‘next Monday’ and ‘soon’.
e.g. We will meet soon.

Future Continuous (will/shall be going)
- used to describe a continuous action that will happen in the future.
- Usually used when an exact time in the future is given.
e.g. The plane will be departing at one tomorrow.

Future Perfect(will/shall have gone)
- used to describe that has just happened in the future.
-Used for estimation
- Usually used when an exact time in the future is given.
E.g. We shall have died for ages in 2100.

Future Perfect Continuous
-used for estimation
-usually a specific is given
e.g. Next year in December, I will have lived in Hong Kong for 10 years.
