These two prepositions are interchangeable in meaning,
but among is far more frequent in American English;
amongst occurs far more often in British English.
(兩字可通用. among 多出現於美(國)式英文, amongst 則多出現於英(國)式英文.)
Some people make a distinction between these,
using amongst with verbs that imply movement:
Example: we stood among the trees. / we walked amongst the trees.
There is no need to do so; either form can be used in any context.
(亦有些人會把 amongst 和「有動作」的動詞一起用,
例如: We walked amongst the tree. (walked=行走, 是 「有動作」的動詞)
We stood among the trees. (stood=站立, 是 沒有「動作」的動詞)
但不需要這樣做, 兩個字都可以用.

很難把 verbs that imply movement 譯成中文,勉強譯為「有動作」的動詞,如有疑問, 請再提出.
