Actually i have been working as a causal worker (about 18-20 hours per week) in a hotel for 7 months. As requested by the University, i have to submit a reference to show the numbers of hours of experience in the related industry. i found this job by my friend. therefore i have not got the job through the normal proccess (go to HR department first for apolication). Can i ask for a reference? if it does, who should i contact?

有關學校的要求 -- 你唯有遞交mpf record or copy 你在酒店的臨時工作証,但就算是外國的酒店,也有用casual worker in F & B. So, you explain to the university that they will understand the situation.
In big company, mostly they will only give reference letter for full-time workers. As you mentioned, you are not hired by the HR department, they shouldn't give you. However, you should try to tell them thay you need for the school. It should be ok.
You just need to call your HR Department, tell them what you need. Then they need to ask their HR manager if he/she approve it because manager need to sign the reference letter.
