It becomes a history question! The Lone Pine was the name given to a solitary tree on the Gallipoli Peninsula in Turkey, which marked the site of the Battle of Lone Pine (First World War) in 1915 .

2007-09-05 18:05:27 補充:
The original 「Lone Pine」was a sole survivor of a group of trees that had been cut down by Turkish soldiers who had used the timber and branches to cover their trenches during the battle.

The tree was obliterated as a result of the battle; however, pine cones that had remained attached to the cut branches over the trenches were retrieved by two AUSTRALIAN soldiers and brought home to AUSTRALIA.

2007-09-05 18:06:24 補充:
From seeds shed by the cone, the Australians raised pine trees in different parts of the country. (e.g. at the War Memorial grounds).Today, PINES WHICH ARE PLANTED AS A MEMORIAL TO THE AUSTRALIAN AND NEW ZEALAND SOLDIERS WHO FOUGHT IN GALLIPOLI ARE KNOWN AS LONE PINES.

The Lone Pine Sanctuary is so named as a memorial to the Australian soldiers who died in the battle.

後來士兵把戰場上哪棵惟一的松樹 (Lone Pine) 的松子帶返澳洲,
在多處地方種松樹.
澳洲人稱這些松樹為Lone Pine, 以紀念陣亡的士兵。
