By just remembering words is not easy. Each of them is independent and have no relations to other things and so it is not easy to become a complete memory in your mind. When learning a language, always learn it in a more comprehensive way. I always tell people not to check dictionary too much. Just read more books. Guess the meaning of the words you don't understand by reading and understanding the whole sentence, the whole paragraph, the whole chapter or even the whole book. Then the meaning of the word can form a complete memory in the mind, rather than a lot of fragmented information which cannot be easily extracted in required.

you should make use of the words you've learnt. Maybe may can copy the words and make sentences with the words. And try to stress the words into parts. For example:
information -> in/for/ma/tion... it's much easier.

And remember don't hesitate to read the words.
