1. An observatory records that the Leo meteor shower appears every 33 years, cor. to the nearest 0.5 year, and the Halley's comet returns every 76 years, cor. to the nearest year.

(a) Find the % error for each of these record time. (cor. to 2 sig. fig.)
(b) Compare the two recorded time to find out which one is more accurate.

2. Estimate the value of the numberical expression 308.8 - 5.9513 / 0.02038 by first rounding off each number to 1 sig. fig.

(a)% error of Leo=max error/meausred valuex100%=0.25/33x100%=0.76%

that of Halley=0.5/76x100%=0.66%

(b)Halley's as % error is smaller

2.308.8 - 5.9513 / 0.02038=300-6/0.02=0
