1. The solid consists of a circular cone and a hemisphere.The base radii of both portions are 9 cm.Given that the volume of the circular cone is equal to that of the hemisphere.
a)Find
i)the height of hte circular cone,
ii)the volume of the whole solid.
(Given the answer in term of pi )

Let h cm be the height of the circular cone

a)(i) Volume of the circular cone = 1/3 * pi * 9^2 * h
= 27*pi*h
Volume of the hemisphere = 1/2 * 4/3 * pi * r^3
= 2/3 * pi * 9^3
= 486*pi
As they have same volume, hence,
27*pi*h = 486*pi
h= 18

The height of the circular cone = 18cm

(ii) Volume of whole solid = 27 * pi * 18 + 486 * pi
= 972*pi cm^2
