為何concentrated HSO4 可以react with unreactive metal?

SO4(2-)會變成SO2,而Cu就變成CU(2+),那麼,SO2不就是又會還原Cu(2+)?

Talking about concentrated sulphuric acid. The reacting species is no longer the sulphate ion, but the whole acid molecule.

Conc. Sulphuric acid is a strong oxidizing agent which can oxidize some unreactive metal including copper. Yes, you are right, SO2 would be formed. However, SO2 would leave the reacting solution as it is a gas actually. So, it will not reduce Cu2+ back to Cu. Also, the reducing power of SO2 is weak.
