1. The no. of heartbeats per minute of a bird measured is 980, and the relative error is 1/245. What is the possible range of the no. of heartbeats per minute?

2. May finds that the time taken for a printer to print 100 documents is 7 minutes 5 seconds, and the relative error is 1/85. What is the possible range of time required to print 1 documents?

Remember the formulae:
relative error = max absolute error/ measured value
range = measured value +/- max absolute error.
So, for Q1, the lower limit of the range is 980 - 980 X 1/245 = 976
and the upper limite of the range is 980 + 1/245 = 984

For Q2, the lower limit of the range is 7min5sec - (7 X 60+5)X1/85 sec = 7 min
and the upper limit of the range is 7min5sec + (7 X 60+5)X1/85 sec = 7 min 10sec

Also, you have to be pretty careful with the change of units in Q2.
