Fetch (British English)

How often do ppl in UK use the word [fetch]?

I use [pick up] instead of [fetch].
Eg I am going to the school to pick her up.
Instead of
I am going to the school to fetch her.

For me, I only use [fetch] when I play with dogs....

it is a very common word in England, especially in the Northern part of the country.
It is usually used on things rather than people, but sometimes people still using the word 'fetch' on people.
it will be more acceptable if you say '' I will pick you up when you finished work.'' rather than '' I will fetch you when you finished work''
eg. You can have my red jacket to goto the party, but you make sure you will fetch it back.
eg. I left my books in your house last week, and I am on my way to fetch them.
so you see the difference.

"Fetch" is a typical British expression.It's only used in some circumstances,therefore, it's not commonly used in the normal daily basis.
