A patient is ordered a heparin infusion. Prepare heparin to a concentration of 50units for every ml to be added to 500ml of 0.09% N/S. She is ordered 35mls every hour for the first 4 hours. Following the results of her APPT, her heparin medication order is altered to 42mls per hour for the next 4 hours. In stock heparin is 5000units/1ml.
a). How many mls of heparin would you add to the N/Saline?
b). How many units of heparin would she be administered every hour in the first 4 hours?

要dilute heparin 50unit per ml in 500ml N/S，設x為要加入N/S的heparin：
x/500=50
x=25000unit
假如stock heparin 5000units/ml，需要抽取heparin=25000/5000
=5ml
由於現在的heparin N/S中，每ml有50unit heparin，所以最初order 35ml heparin per hour，給予heparin 是35x50=1750unit，而4 hours就有1750x4=7000unit
現在order 42ml heparin per hour，給予heparin 是42x50=2100unit，而4 hours就有2100x4=8400unit
