I'm a HKU graduate and hope that I can help you.
If you want to go study Food and Nutritional Science in HKU, you need to put the Faculty of Science as your 1st choice in your JUPAS application in Form 7. In year 1, you have to study different science subjects, then at the end of year 1, you can choose your favourite subject (food and nutritional science) and major in it in year 2. The average grade in AL is CCDDD. As you choose Phy, Chem and Bio in A-level, that's OK already.
To be a Registered Dietitian (註冊營養師), you have to continue and get a Master degree. And then go to hospital to have practicum (work). It takes 2 years. But the school fee is very expensive, more than $100,000 (HKU). The starting salary really depends. Degree holder is usally around $10000 to $12000. Master degree holder is a bit higher, around $15000 to $18000. And of course salary will be increased with experience. But still you need to save money for your future studies too.
The market right now is quite good, as many slimming companies are recruiting dietitian. But actually you do not need to get a Master degree and be a Registered Dietitian to work in slimming companies. A degree holder will be fine already as they cannot give you very high salary. Both HKU and CUHK is good. And i'm sure you can get a job after graduation. Good luck!
