Job Title: Clinical Psychologist

Salary: Master Pay Scale Point 27 ($34,895) to Master Pay Scale Point 44 ($73,070) per month

Entry Requirements: (a) have a Master Degree in Clinical Psychology from a Hong Kong university or equivalent; and (b) have obtained “Level 2”[See Note 1] results in the two language papers (Use of Chinese [See Note 2] and Use of English [See Notes 2 & 3]) in the Common Recruitment Examination (CRE). A pass result in the Aptitude Test in the CRE is also required [See Note 4]; and (c) be able to speak fluent Cantonese and English.

Notes: Note 1 : Starting from the CRE held in December 2006, while candidates' results in the Aptitude Test (AT) paper are classified as pass or fail, the results of the Use of Chinese (UC) and Use of English (UE) papers are classified as 'Level 2', 'Level 1' or 'Fail', with 'Level 2' being the highest. Note 2 : Grade 'C' or above and Grade 'D' in Use of English of the Hong Kong Advanced Level Examination (HKALE), or equivalent, are accepted as equivalent to 'Level 2' and 'Level 1' results respectively in the UE paper of the CRE. Grade 'C' or above and Grade 'D' in Chinese Language and Culture or Chinese Language and Literature of the HKALE are accepted as equivalent to 'Level 2' and 'Level 1' results respectively in the UC paper of the CRE. Note 3 : Applicants with an overall band of 6.5 or above with no subtest score below band 6 obtained in the same sitting in the Academic Module of the International English Language Testing System (IELTS) within the two-year validity period of the test are considered as having met the English language proficiency requirement (item (b) of entry requirements) of the Clinical Psychologist post. The IELTS test result must be valid on the starting day of the application period, i.e. 4 August 2007. Note 4 : Candidates without the requisite CRE results as stated in item (b) of the entry requirements but who have met the other entry requirements may also apply. However, they will only be considered for appointment subject to their obtaining the requisite results in the relevant papers in the CRE to be held on 6 October 2007.

Duties: (a) conducting psychological assessment and providing psychotherapy to clients; (b) providing specialist advice and consultation to social workers and correctional homes/rehabilitation centres; (c) providing professional training and public education in psychology or related subjects; and (d) conducting work-related researches/studies.
