Illustrate with relevant examples in consumer products market, critically evaluate the effectiveness of the major branding strategies available to marketers in Hong Kong.

First, you should use one example first :
Cheng Yu Cosmetics -available at Sa Sa
You then analysize the 4 Ps: place. promotion, Place, etc.
Place: Sa Sa
promotion: Use HK Movie stars and some rich wives to advertise(magazine and newsapapers)
-high price (one of the most expensive cosmetics brand)
The ad campaign is : because Rich and famous people like Chu Ling Ling are using the product, it's expensive-the problem is the advertising is not enough (limited exposure of the brand to the HK People) Many HK people still don't know the name.
The strategy of using newspapers article to introduce the product is bad. It should probably have more public activities: sucha s giving out samples to the public at the MTR stations.
Moreover, it should change the stars and the advertisement (the theme) like fancl and SKII are more effective in letting the public know the brand products (Fancl always use GiGI Leung of a different message of the advertisement: Such as not letting the water lost from the face. Also another advertisement is pore refining.
So u then compare it with some other product and tell which one is better and say why
