Tony Hibbert (born February 20, 1981 in Liverpool, brought up in Huyton, Merseyside ) is an English footballer who currently plays as a defender for Everton.

Hibbert made his debut for Everton in their 2-0 win against West Ham United in 2001 . He was a member of the Everton youth team that won the FA Youth Cup in 1998 . Although originally a Midfielder, Hibbert has adapted his game and is now a regular at right-back for the Toffees. In July 2005 he signed a 4 year deal with his hometown club. Many regard him as Everton's best tackler[citation needed] and has great pace although he is still yet to score for the club even though he has been a first team regular for several years. The ACTIM index in fact rated him the best English right back in the 2004/05 season[citation needed] but he still hasn't received an England call up.

Unfortunately, he missed the end of the 2005/2006 season with a hernia problem and his preparations for the 2006/2007 season were disrputed after he contracted cryptosporidium parasite, an illness contracted through infected water or food.[1]The majority of the season was tampered with injuries for Hibbert however he is expected to make his 150th Everton start against West Ham United.
