點解我d同學個英文名咁嘅？

我以前我三個同學個英文名翻譯好得意咖～唔係直譯中文名咖～個女仔叫TAM POLLY,兩個男仔分別叫CHOI JOESPH PATRICK同CHOI LOUIS,叫LOUIS嗰個我就知佢係喺外國出世嘅ABC，但係其他嗰兩個點解呢？佢哋係中國人，有中文名咖～但係完全同個英文名冇關係個喎～

The birth certificate in HK that normally have a Chinese name and a English name (直譯中文名), the parents also can add on a English name of their choice. Parents also have a choice not to put the English name 直譯中文名 on the birth certificate. I was born in HK and move to US for many years, my birth certificate has only my Chinese name and a English name, no 直譯中文名.
