Why Faure is one of the leading figures in French music?

Faure is a leading figure, because his time was the transition period from the Romatic period to twentieth century, he brought the public's attention of classical music to french, after the classical music was dominated mostly by german and austrian composers in the past. he created many new melodic and harmonic styles. he also used 7th and 9th chords. he is seen as a person who paved the way for impressionism

as for vocal music, the Requiem is probably his most famous work. you can do some research on that.
