Expressing her feeling , and it is usually for foreigners to openly express themselves publicly.....

But the guy may be out of shy or afraid of expressing himself publicly , so he said something out of nowhere" Pass the salt"

So he is diverting the subject of discussion, to something totally unimportant...

因為他們之間的親密關係, 才會只說"pass the salt". 而非"Can you pass the salt to me please?".

應該只係簡單把鹽遞過去的意思~
