trust & believe?

Trust is more often associated with actions:
Trust me, I can finish the report by tomorrow.

Believe is more often associated with words:
Believe me when I say you look more beautiful than her.

Also, if you say you don't believe someone, it means you don't believe his words. If you say you don't trust someone, it means you don't believe his character.
e.g.
I don't believe him, he said the same thing last time.
I don't trust him, he looks tricky.

BUT
You can say (I don't trust him, he said the same thing last time.)
But no one says (I don't believe him, he looks tricky.)
