A helicopter H is observed from two stations A and B on the ground 2000m apart. A B H all line in the same vertival plane.The angles of elevation of H from A and B are 38 and 27 respectively, If the helicopter is h M above the ground.

1 ) AB = h / tan 38* + h / tan 28*

2 ) h / tan 38* + h / tan 28* = 2000

tan 28* h + tan 38* h = 2000 tan 28* tan 38*

h ( tan 28* + tan 38* ) = 2000 tan 28* tan 38*

h = 633 ( cor. to 3 s.f. )
