search 與search for的分別是甚麼?

"Search" 與 "for" 一起用的情況較多. 一般表達的意思為 :

"找" 什麼.

e.g. He searched (in/through) his pockets for some change.
- 他在銀包找零錢. 括號內的 "in/through" 可加上或不加上.
e.g. The police searched the woods for the missing boy.
- 警察在樹叢中搜索不見了的男孩子.

雖然"search"可單用, 但通常在後面都會有一些描述性的adverb:

I've searched high and low (= everywhere), but I can't find my birth certificate.
我已找過所有地方, 但還是找不到我的出世紙.

兩者之間基本意思的差別不大, 都是在某地方"尋找" 或 "搜索" 某人或物.

search 和 search for　其實都沒有甚麼大的分別。
都係解「尋找」。

不過通常都會用search for 或者其它phrase(search through/out)

ｅｇ　　An RAF plane searched for the missing men.
Detectives are searching the yard (for clues).

It was too dark to search further.

如果search me，即是「我不知道」＞＞
to tell someone that you do not know the answer to a question.
