What do you think about Cindy Sheehan wanting to run for congress against Nancy Pelosi? (yahoo! news)?

I think Sheehan is delusional. I think she has used her son's death as an excuse to gain sympathy and credibility. I think she is a nutcase who doesn't stand a chance of being elected to any office. She especially couldn't beat Pelosi.

Sheehan has no chance. You cannot hope to win on one subject only- even the Iraq War. in any event, Nancy Pelosi is loved in her district, one in which she won with 81% percent of the vote- a figure that has been consistently growing since she took office.

Nancy Pelosi's district is the only one further to the left than Pelosi herself. They would have no problem electing that moonbat Sheehan.

Who would miss a lovely cat-fight in the congress? It takes two idiots to party.

The same kind of people who voted for Nancy will probably vote for Cindy too. Don't be too surprised.

I think the fact that Nancy Pelosi has to worry about a primary challenge shows the problem with the way that we choose candidates in this country.

We are the only major democracy that requires incumbents to run in primaries to represent their party in the general election. Given that a large percentage of our districts are safely in one party's control for the general election, that means that are congressmen and women have to be more concerned about fending off an inter-party political fight than any candidate that the other party might choose. As a result, the biggest threat to re-election is from activists who believe that a representative has been too practical and not "pure" enough.

With that type of a system, is it any wonder that Washington is so highly partisan and it is so difficult to get anything done.

I don't think Pelosi is in any serious risk from Sheehan, but her job requires her to do what it takes to get some of the party's platform enacted into law. She should not have to worry about an uprising from the activists because that involves accepting half a loaf sometimes.

Mrs sheehan by no ability had a suggestions to start with. truly of being proud her son served (and that i'm sorry to assert lost his existence) to assist unfastened the iraqi human beings, she has made a mockery of his bravery and sacrifice. She has her very own schedule as a paid stoolie for the liberal left, who could truly bash Bush, then get up for us of a. George Bush is residing evidence that we human beings could truly elect an fool, than a liberal. Cindy Sheehan is a strolling upload for birthcontrol.

I absolutely despise both of them. However, I do like the idea that Sheehan challenged Pelosi to bring impeachment charges against Bush.

I don't know if Sheehan was unstable before her son was killed, or the death caused her fantasies.

Pelosi won big time in the last election and will probably win again. But the news median will cover Sheehan in the hopes she'll do something nutty that's good for ratings.

It isn't often that the loss of a child causes a parent to run for office, but none the less the loss of a child is devastating. In that respect she has my sympathies. We need to end the war.

Kind of like Kip's Ma and Shara Brady.

well, since carolyn mccarthy successfully ran for congress from long island (her husband and son were among the victims of colin ferguson - the long island railroad shooter) whose one plank for her platform was gun control, i'd say it could be possible for cindy sheehan to successfully run.

you think she's delusional, in what way? her son was killed in this war. and as far as her "using her son's death to gain sympathy and credibility" - i'd say that she has a H*LL of a lot MORE credibility than someone like, say, bush, or cheney - who've had no family involvement in this, and who have let others pay the price of their hubris. as far as being able to beat nancy pelosi, that would depned on how strongly pelosi can garner support from her constituency - something which constantly shifts, since most people have a short memory - their opinion of their elected representatives is only as good as the last benefit they've noticed from that rep.
why does cindy sheehan scare you so much? is it that she's actually willing to speak her mind? is it that she's actually been willing to call bush/cheney on their egregious handling of this war, and the unnecessary loss of american lives?
