You can import file from excel to access. You can make a simple database in excel and try it.

I dont know why they ask you to use access as it normally is used as database management and make a program for end users to use. They probably ask you to use the database program they created.

I think they will ask you to convert data from access file to excel and use the data to analysis the data and make a report. You can use pivot table to convert data from access for it.
