Agreed with view point of AC. I just come back after 5 week's travel in London, Italy, France and return to Hong Kong from London Gatwick. I did twice entering into London and everytime immigration officers asked a lot of questions when they saw me travelling alone. You can expect that they will ask you those common questions:
* purpose of travelling to UK;
* where will you stay ? (hotel..or friend's house..etc)
* when will be return to Hong Kong..
I knew about questions from UK immigration officers from this knowledge base and I did well prepare to answer these questions with printed pages of my hotel bookings and return ticket as proof for what I had told them. When they saw that I just told them the truth (I am indeed travelling alone to UK for sightseeing, spending money there and will return to Hong Kong because I have to back to work), they just chopped on my passport and let me go. When I entered into EC countries (eg. Italy), they just chopped my passport without any single question. So don't feel bad with your last experience, this time prepare better and it will be alright.
When I travelled in Europe last month, I found information that shared in this knowledge base helped me a lot. That's why I want to share with others in return.
