As far as i know, there's no rule in any university that students are not allowed to buy stocks.
But the problem is : if the students are very keen on investing in stocks, they may not have much time to focus on the study. Finally, the exam results may be very bad that the school will force them out because they are not up to standards.
I also teached in universities before. I know many students are investing in stocks, and even gambling in horses & football. But so what ? As long as students are not gambling at school, and they are of legal age to gamble, nobody cares if they gamble or not.
But most importantly, students should always spend most of the time on study, not investing in stocks, or gambling !!
