The larger of two consecutive even numbers s x. The smaller number is less than 2 times the larger number by 18. Find the numbers.

Let the smaller one be x, larger one be x+2, (because they are even numbers)2*(x+2)-x=18
2x+4-x=18
x+4=18
x=14
so, the smaller one is 14, the large is 14+2=16
