Generic strategies were used initially in the early 1980s, and seem to be even more popular today. They outline the three main strategic options open to organization that wish to achieve a sustainable competitive advantage. Each of the three options are considered within the context of two aspects of the competitive environment:
Sources of competitive advantage - are the products differentiated in any way, or are they the lowest cost producer in an industry? Competitive scope of the market - does the company target a wide market, or does it focus on a very narrow, niche market?

(a) Vatson's is a big pharmacy chain store, so it have enough
financial support . After "price analysis", the company will
find is easy for them to put the lower prices in the beginning
in order to promoting a new product.
Once more customers know the new product and find it really helpful for them. Of course, the price can be set higher
so as to earn more money.
In Hong Kong ,the market is large because of the 7 million citizens.
(b) The attractiveness of Vatson' is more stores with the same name
and then more people know the store's products. It is easilier for
them to building up trust relationship. On the other hands, they
can have more choice in a bigger store. Naturely, they would like
to go shopping in this kind of pharmacy chain store. A good example
is the famous pharmacy chain stores -----boots in England.
And also, more customers create more demonds, so the store can
in-port more goods and product for their shops. It can help to
improve their business in this competitive business enviornment.
(C) This generic competitive strategy include a lot of chains.
Each factor will relate to other factors so that it can help the
promotion of the business. Through price analysis, demand
analysis, company can set up new advertsing to increase the
success in the development of market plan.
Making use of their competitive intellegence to keep up with
competitors' moves. The outcome maybe more customers
support the new product and find it worth to try.
