No, you do not require to buy software even though it exists. Apple provide a software called bootcamp which was originally developed for this situation, it is absolutely free.. Go to www.apple.com and type in the search box for bootcamp. It should lead you to the page, where it shall contain all the instructions on how to run windows on a mac...Hope this helps.
